The Flora Homoeopathica comprises of the Illustrations and Descriptions of Medicinal Plants which are generally used for preparing homoeopathic remedies. This, for the first time, was published in 1852 by Dr. Edward Hamilton, M.D., F.L.S., a physician to the London Homoeopathic Hospital and a member of the British Homoeopathic Society.

In presenting The Flora Homoeopathica, Dr. Hamilton’s chief aim was not merely to illustrate and describe the remedies which were used in homoeopathic art of prescribing, but the had a keen desire to give a rational answer to those opponents of the homoeopathic system of medicine who worthlessly used to preach that homoeopathic remedies were quite different of those which were used in old school, were full of poisons and so injurious to health. By presenting this compendium he has disclosed this open fact that he medicinal plants which are used for preparing the homoeopathic remedies were among those which were commonly used in the orthodox school of medicine. With a view that the Flora could give a bird’s eye view to all physicians of the originality of the plants used for their medicine and that it could remain intact in all libraries either of the physicians or others and may become a boon to the ailing human race all over the world, every endeavour has been made to give an attractive shape to the present volume. We are fully confident that this monumental work will find an honourable place in the library shelves of every person, whether a physician, a research scholar or a manufacturer of medicine.
